“All that is necessary to break the spell of inertia and frustrations I this: Act as if it were impossible to fail. That is the talisman, the formula, the command of right-about-face which turns us from failure towards success.” - Dorothea Brande A Note From Brian___________________ The quote above is the perfect launching pad for the new year! I am sure you may have heard the question, “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” Well, in 2008, it’s time we act as though we cannot fail! THINK ABOUT IT! None of us know if we are going to fail or succeed, therefore, we have a CHOICE. Act as though we will fail, or act as though we will succeed. Then do it until something happens. If you act as though you may fail, then you will most likely set into motion things that will guarantee or at least greatly increase, the likeliness that you will indeed fail. But if you act as though you are guaranteed victory, then everything will fall into line that will bring you that victory. So there is one simple application to this process: The way you talk about your endeavor. – if you talk like you will fail, you bring a lack of confidence in the listener, which in turn, may cause them, and you, to quit. But if you talk positive, you will inspire them to follow you on the road to victory! TAKE ACTION IN ’08: In all you do this year, act as though you will succeed!!!!! A.O.K Challenge______________________________ #1 – Help Fernley Flood Victims: Recently Fernley, a city outside of Reno, suffered from a sudden flood. Hundreds of children lost their favorite toys, books, blankets, and cloths. I’ve challenged two schools and the local public to get involved as a community, join hands, and help the children in need. Please visit the website www.Fernley.OneMillionAOK.com for more information. #2 – THINK A.O.K – I will be traveling to Alabama in April to help rebuild a community home to help serve as shelter for all flood victims and individuals “down on their luck”. Hale County is ranked as one of the poorest counties in the United States. I am working to collect over 1,000 pictures from individuals across the globe doing the A.O.K hand gesture. These pictures will be printed and used to wall paper a Wall of Kindness – which will stand as the most colorful and vibrant wall of the house. I NEED YOUR PICTURE!!! A.O.K News___________________________________ Caughlin Ranch and Sarah Winnemucca Sarah Winnemucca and Caughlin Ranch have now housed the One Million
A.O.K program for 1 week. I am very excited to see the results that will
come through! Please check the website to track their progress. TURKEY DELIVERY This holiday season I joined forces with the Reno/Sparks Gospel Mission along with 20 other volunteers to hand out over 100 Turkey's to families in need. Now, this was 100% random! We knock on doors of individuals living in low income housing, we'd say "Merry Christmas - Here is a Turkey for you and your family!". The response was astonding! One person cried because she though nobody would think of her this Christmas, another had no idea how she was going to give her children a true holiday meal, and some didn't speak good english, but gave their thanks with a smile and a hug. The feeling of giving is amazing. Find away to volunteer in your community, I garuntee you, you won't regret it! One Small Act of Kindness___________________ Dear Brian, I wanted to let you know really quick of how I found out your program came to my son’s school. That day as I picked him up he shared a story of how some black belts came in doing backflips and broke some bricks in front of the entire school. However, he seemed to leave out the challenge. But you did get their attention with you presentation. However, later that evening, once dinner was ready, I called my son to come downstairs to join the family. When he yelled “Coming”, it had the echo that is only given from the laundry room, a room he typically never “hangs out in”. As I walked up the stairs and proceeded to see what he was doing, I found him folding his father’s laundry. (his folding isn’t pretty, but the thoughtfulness of it was chilling). I asked him, “What are you doing?” He replied, “Dad said he was tired and said he was going to fold his laundry after dinner, I thought I would surprise him.” I didn’t quite understand what he was up to, until later that night I looked in his backpack and noticed you’re Kindness Journal where had written, “I folded my dad’s laundry”. What an amazing program. You brought chills to my skin.
