A Note From Brian___________________ If you take a baseball and hold it out in front of you for a minute . . . no problem right? But if you do it for an hour it gets much more difficult. If you do it for 24 hours, you will have to use your other hand to call for an ambulance. But if you ask the person that gave you the baseball if it was heavy, he’d say, “No.” – but he’s not the guy holding it for 24 hours! The same thing goes with negativity in our world. One small insult, shut down, facial expression, or a brutal physical action might seem light and insignificant for one person, but for someone else, they hold onto that negativity for a long time, and it gets very heavy, just like the baseball. Some people ask why I say “Kindness is the Ultimate Form of Self-Defense.” First let’s break down the phrase “Self-Defense.” When I say Self-Defense it isn’t just against kicking and punching, but against negativity, stink’in thinking, and even against the belief that what you wear is who you are. By not only focusing on the good, but creating it, you instantly transform negativity into a small pebble in the road. There is a quote that I love, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” Charles Swindoll. Bad things will happen – sorry to be so blunt, but it’s true. Everyone has a story of struggle, disbelief, or negativity. Some may seem small and insignificant, but all weigh the same to the person holding it. Everyone must realize that there is Random Acts of Kindness in our world, it does exist! And it is the one remedy to make the weight on your shoulders seem lighter.
HAVE NO FEAR – BE POSITIVE – MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE! A.O.K News_________________________________ Alyce Taylor Creates Kindness On Oct. 25th I challenged Alyce Taylor Elementary to document over 12,000 Random Acts of Kindness! The event went remarkably well! The students of Alyce Taylor not only excepted the challenge, but immediately started taking “Kindness Action” right away! We received news coverage on both the 5:00 and 6:00 o’clock news and we were also in the Reno Gazette Journal! Alyce Taylor has two more weeks to document as many Random Acts of Kindness as possible – You can track their results on the One Million A.O.K website, but you can also read stories from both parents and teachers! A.O.K Searching For KINDNESS CREW The One Million A.O.K program is now searching for select individuals to form the “Kindness Crew”. The Kindness Crew will go into the community and do outside the box random acts of kindness ON FILM! This will soon become an online TV show on both the One Million A.O.K website and YouTube. If you would like to be on the Kindness Crew – or would like to volunteer for one of the events, please contact us directly. Not only will it be fun and exciting – but we will be able to randomly touch the lives of thousands – and share it with the world! One Small Act of Kindness___________________ I have this habit of remembering birthdays of all the people I know, whether they're my friends or foes. Birthdays are the days when we can make the other person feel that they are really special and making them happy is my motive. Last August 6, it was one of my friends birthday and I remembered and sent her an SMS text message and also spoke to her. She was stunned and surprised to hear my voice even though I hadn't spoken to her in four month or so. She was too happy and said that she dint expect my wishes.. and that I had made her feel really special. I know I didn't do anything big but that little phone call made all the
difference. The birthday was hers but I was the one left feeling happy!
