Today I had a student who is normally the socialite of the class, yet today he was quite because he wasn’t feeling to well. Half way through teaching science, I saw a note being pasted around from desk to desk. I saw it pass through about 5 different hands before I finally said something. When I took the note, I found that the ENTIRE CLASS, on their own accord, decided to make a get well card for him!

I gave the note back to the students and told them to keep up the amazing kind acts, and I started teaching were I left off watching the note pass through every child’s hands.

Today in class we talked about everyone that we could be “kind to”. Within this class discussion children mentioned all the obvious points, however, after lunch when all of my student where coming back into the class room one child came it with a grocery bag of trash. When I asked him what that was, he said, “We forgot one person, Alyce Taylor (our school), she was dirty, so I decided to clean her up a little.”

I have a very bright little boy in my class. He has an extremely difficult time sitting still. The students had just finished sharing kindness stories when I noticed my little guy sitting on his hands.

Usually around this time he would be flying an eraser or pencil around like a rocket or playing with his shoe laces, writing messages on the soles of his shoes or fidgeting with whatever else might be in his immediate area. Today he was sitting on his hands. I quietly walked over and asked him if everything was alright. He whispered that he was sitting on his hands so that he didn't bug his group. He reasoned that since there were five people in his group he was doing five acts of kindness.

You know, I agreed with him. Sitting still was very difficult for him and this was his way of being kind.

Brian this is conference week and my student's parents are very excited about the program. They wanted to fill out journals themselves and make random acts of kindness a family mission! The student's loved your morning announcement. Thanks for your hard work and inspirational program!
